Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) hair restoration is a natural therapy using an individual’s own blood for the treatment of hair loss.
A sample of blood is centrifuged at a specific speed to separate and concentrate platelets, as well as growth factors. The PRP has the capability of rejuvenating dormant hair follicles, encouraging hair growth.
Using a fine needle, the PRP is placed directly into the scalp, targeting hair follicles. The entire head is treated with regions of severe hair loss and inactive follicles as the primary focus.
Initially, 2-4 treatments spaced 6-8 weeks apart are recommended. After achieving a desired result, maintenance treatments can be performed every 12-24 months.
Improvement can be seen as soon as 4 weeks after the second treatment. Optimal results are seen approximately 4-6 weeks after the initial set of treatments. Results can last 9-12 months, but varies for each individual.
There is no downtime with PRP hair injections, therefore normal activities can be resumed following treatment. Irritation at the injection sites, or headache are normal side effects to the treatment, and generally subside by the next day.
